Chairing a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister told them to make at least one lakh followers each on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter and noted with concern that several ministers are not active in this regard.
At the meeting where he reviewed the functioning of key economic ministries like Commerce, Finance, Telecom and IT, Modi asked the members of the Council of Ministers to think about coming out with catchy logos for different departments so that people can immediately relate to their working.
A senior minister, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the meeting today was mainly about presentations by some ministries on financial and developmental issues, besides on how to give added focus to Modi's pet digital India scheme.
The meeting discussed the schemes launched by the government in the last two years and the way they are being implemented.
Modi government will complete two years in office on May 26.
At the BJP Parliamentary Party's meeting this morning, the Prime Minister had asked BJP MPs to take the "successes" of the government like Mudra scheme, increased LPG coverage and electrification of villages to the people.
The issue of VVIP chopper scam, over which the BJP has targeted Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, was also taken up at Parliamentary Party meet.
