Every possible step should be taken to strengthen the security grid in Kashmir, adviser to the governor, K Vijay Kumar, said Tuesday during a review meeting with police officials here.
Kumar visited the police headquarters in Srinagar and chaired a meeting to review the overall security scenario in the Kashmir division, an official spokesman said.
DGP Dilbag Singh and senior police officers briefed the adviser on the security scenario and other issues related to it, he said.
During the meeting, Kumar conducted a comprehensive review and also discussed various measures undertaken to further enhance the security in the Kashmir Valley, the spokesman said.
There is always a scope for improvement and every possible step in this regard must be taken to strengthen the security grid in the state, the adviser to the Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Kumar, said.
The meeting was attended by the DGP, ADGP Law, Order and Security Muneer Ahmed Khan, IGP Kashmir S P Pani and range DIGs of the Kashmir Zone among others.
The DIGs of the CRPF and the SSB, and commandants of the IRP, the CRPF and the SSB were also present at the meet, the spokesman said.
The measures put in place by the various security agencies to check activities of unlawful elements were also discussed in the meeting, he said.
The spokesman said Kumar stressed upon enhancing coordination among the security agencies to maintain vigil against inimical forces and to maintain peace in the state.
The field officers briefed the meeting about the security situation in their respective areas. he said.
