The stock climbed 3.67 per cent to settle at Rs 385.85 on BSE. During the day, it gained 4 per cent to Rs 387.20.
On NSE, shares of the company went up 4 per cent to end at Rs 386.65.
The company added Rs 3,453.25 crore in market valuation to Rs 1,10,914.25 crore.
In terms of volume, 5 lakh shares of the company changed hands at BSE and over 68 lakh shares were traded at NSE during the day.
The company had sold 1,06,595 units in March 2015, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing.
In the passenger vehicles category, global sales stood at 73,515 units last month as against 68,109 units in March 2015, up 8 per cent.
Sales of luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover rose 22 per cent to 64,579 units last month as compared to 52,736 units in March 2015.
