CSIO and TBRL, under DRDO of Ministry of Defence, today inked an MoU here for sharing of expertise, domain knowledge and available facilities in photonics, electronics, nanoscience and nanotechnology for research and development of techniques, instrumentation and systems for ballistics research, blast measurement, structural health monitoring, motion detection and measurement, explosive and bio agent detection, detonics studies, off-route mines and explosive materials, an official spokesman said here.
It will promote interaction among the scientists and research scholars of both the organisations by exchange visits and organising brainstorming sessions to identify and pursue research programs in emerging thrust areas of mutual interest.
Director, Central Scientific Instruments Organisation Prof R K Sinha outlining the scope of the MoU disclosed that there are seven main areas of cooperation by virtue of this MoU - Human Resource Development, Computational Instrumentation, Seismic, Acoustic & Biomedical, Photonics based techniques and instrumentation for detonics and blast parameter studies, FBG based cavity mirror design and fabrication of high power fiber lasers, Nanotechnology and Bio-sensors, and Material development for Optical and Electro-explosive applications.
CSIO will jointly collaborate with TBRL in designing and developing products having utility both in the defence and societal sectors.
CSIO is a premier R&D organisation engaged in undertaking research, design and development of scientific and industrial instruments, components and instrument systems and TBRL is a premier Laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence.
It is engaged in the area of Terminal Ballistics Research for Development of technology, devices, components and systems.
