Country's largest software services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today said it has been appointed as the official IT consultancy partner of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2014 (SCMS).

TCS will provide a mobile application and technology support for the event, it said in a statement.

The race is the latest addition to the broad portfolio of major running events that TCS sponsors and supports worldwide like the TCS NYC Marathon, Chicago, Mumbai and Amsterdam Marathons, as well as the Bangalore World 10K.

"This is a first time relationship with a major running event for us in the Asia Pacific region, and our Singapore and regional teams look forward to participating along with our clients and partners," TCS President Asia Pacific Vish Iyer said.

The 'Race App', to be developed by TCS, will be made available to all participants in the build-up to race day on December 7, 2014.

To be made available on iOS and Android smartphones in Singapore from mid-September, the app will host a range of training and race day features, providing necessary information and technological assistance that a runner will need for this year's edition of SCMS.
