Technical experts of the aviation industry from across the globe would meet here from Tuesday to focus on imparting the latest training tools and techniques to stakeholders including airline and airport staffers to strengthen safety and security in the sector.
The experts would be participating in the symposium on regional aviation training and 'TrainAir Plus' module, being convened by UN body, International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) to provide window to ICAO Member States and their industry stakeholders on the latest training trends, techniques and tools available worldwide.
Airport staffers, including those involved in safety, security and ground-handling, would be imparted different types of training once such modules and systems are put in place.
Over 300 delegates from 50 countries, including representatives of civil aviation authorities, air navigation service providers, manufacturers, civil aviation training centres, airlines, ground handling and cargo operators, maintenance organizations and airport operators are expected to participate, GMR Airports Limited CEO P S Nair told PTI.
The symposium, to be inaugurated by Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathy Raju, would establish effective communication links between various stakeholders in the field of aviation training, encourage greater collaboration in training and formation of new training partnerships, he said.
Such aviation training programmes were the need of the hour as the latest civil aviation policy has emphasised on ensuring safe, secure and sustainable aviation industry through effective use of technology, Nair said.
He said ICAO's former chief Raymond Benjamin and incumbent, Dr Fang Liu, have been interested in promoting such training programmes worldwide to ensure aviation safety.
