The incident came to light when police were informed that a minor boy has been admitted at Metro Hospital in Preet Vihar area with a bullet wound in his neck.
"A team of Madhu Vihar police station went to the spot and was told that the victim was playing with a loaded gun along with his younger brother at their residence when the trigger was accidentally pulled off and he was hit by the shot. At the time of the incident, the victim's father who works in a shop was out for election campaign while the mother was busy with household work," said a police official.
"It is not clear how the two minors got that gun. Initial investigation suggests that the victim procured it himself but we are not ruling out the role of any family member. They are being questioned and efforts are being made to verify how he managed to get the gun," said a senior police official.
