Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said the state government will bear medical expenses for treatment of the 19-year-old girl who was allegedly tortured by her father and stepmother.
The girl, Pratushya, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital after she was rescued by police and an NGO from her house in Fatelaguda where she was kept in confinement and was subjected to torture by her parents for past few months.
Rao was deeply saddened by the incident and assured all help with regard to the girl's medical and future educational expenses, according to a press release issued here by the CM's office.
The victim's father, Ramesh, an employee with BSNL, was arrested on Thursday while his wife Shayamala was held earlier in connection with the incident.
Pratyusha had earlier said she was physically tortured by her parents and was forced to consume acid-based toilet cleaners.
