Cold wave conditions intensified following rain, snowfall in many parts of Himachal Pradesh and the maximum temperatures have dropped by 7-8 degrees Celsius, the meteorological department said on Thursday.
The maximum temperature in Kufri in Shimla district was recorded below freezing point.
The higher reaches of the hill-state in Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and Shimla districts received snowfall whereas several other areas of the state witnessed rain on Thursday, Shimla MeT centre director Manmohan Singh said.
Kufri, Narkanda and Kharapathar in Shimla district experienced snowfall.
Kinnaur's Kalpa received 13 cm snowfall, followed by Khadrala (8), Kothi (5) and Keylong (3), he added.
Besides, Manali experienced 29 mm rain, followed by Dharamshala (25), Bhuntar (23), Kangra (13), Shimla and Solan (6 each) and Kasauli (5).
Following rain and snowfall, the maximum temperature has decreased by 7-8 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours, he said.
The highest temperature in the state was recorded at Nahan at 14.8 degrees Celsius, he added.
The maximum temperature in Kufri was minus 5 degrees Celsius whereas in Keylong, it was minus 2.6 degrees Celsius, he added.
The maximum temperature in Dalhousie was 0 degree Celsius, Kalpa 0.8, Shimla 5.9, Dharamshala 9.4, Una 14.6 and Manali 12.2 degrees Celsius.
The MeT centre has issued a yellow weather warning of rain and snowfall in the state on Friday as well.
