Tension prevailed here today following "rumours" that the flesh of a cow was recovered from the Sakeet area, the police said.
The flesh was recovered from the Kaji locality last night, following which the members of two communities started gathering there, they added.
The police recovered 65 kg of animal flesh and an axe from the area and registered an FIR against Iliyas, Ansar, Tasleem and Lal Miyan for allegedly slaughtering a cow, SHO, Sakeet, Nazmul said.
There was a heavy police deployment in the area, he said, adding that the flesh was sent for a forensic examination.
