Narine, who starred in the IPL, bagging the Man-of-the-Series award for taking 24 wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders and helping them lift their first-ever title, replaced injured pacer Kemar Roach in the ongoing West Indies' tour of England.

"It all feels like a dream. I wasn't expecting this at all. I came back home and I was starting to look ahead to the limited-overs series (in England)," said Narine.

"When I got the call for the Test series...Words can't explain how I felt at that moment. The dream was always to play Test cricket and I am halfway there," he added.

The 24-year-old, who made his international debut last December and played eight One-Day Internationals, is yet to play a Test.

During the five-match ODI series against Australia in March, Narine grabbed 11 wickets but was unavailable for the subsequent three-Test series due to his IPL commitments. During the IPL, he claimed 24 wickets at a magnificent economy rate of 5.47.

"I am looking forward to joining the team this weekend and being part of the good work that is happening in West Indies cricket at the moment.

"I am always looking to watch, listen and learn. I would like to play in the last Test and try to help West Indies pull one back, but even if I don't, I won't be too despondent," said Narine. MORE
