US Embassy spokeswoman Melissa Sweeney said today that US agents shared information with Thai authorities that led to the arrest of a Thai national for the sexual assault of minors.
Thai police say US agents notified them after finding obscene photos of young girls posted to a website known to be used by paedophiles, and after tracing the photos they arrested the former teacher in northern Uttaradit province.
Police Col Mana Keabsattabut says the man, Decha Pradit, confessed to abusing 24 girls, whom he paid 10 baht, the equivalent of 30 US cents, and told them not to tell their parents.
