Thailand today identified tourism and food processing industry as the two possible areas of cooperation with India.
At an interactive session here, permanent trade representative, minister at Prime minister's office in Thailand, Nalinee Taveesin, highlighted growing India-Thailand business opportunities which are the result of Thailand's "Look West Policy' and India's 'Look East Policy".
Highlighting Thailand's strengths in the two areas of tourism and food processing, she said it can further deepen bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
She identified these as possible areas of cooperation with India, especially with the East and North East part of the country "which not only provides a large flow of tourists to Thailand every year but also holds prominence as a major agricultural producer".
She also mentioned India's strengths which can help the country garner a stronger foothold in the ASEAN market.
Calling for greater focus on the SME sector, Taveesin observed that this model can be replicated in West Bengal to help the SME sector.
Taveesin further stressed on infrastructure development to ensure larger volume of trade between the two countries and in this regard stressed on the importance of the trilateral highway project involving India, Thailand and Myanmar and also flight link between Guwahati and Bangkok.
