A letter purportedly written by Maoists, threatening to attack a police station in Wayanad district on March 26 and kill five constables there has been received by police.
The letter received two days back said 'Maoists' in Pathiri reserve forest area would attack the Pulpally police station and kill five constables there, police said today.
Police said they were yet to get any report on the presence of Maoists in the area and suspected it might be a hoax letter to spread fear among them and the public.
They said steps have been taken to beef up security at the police station.
