After the latest deaths, the toll has risen to 54 since January this year, the State Government said today.
"In the current year (from January 1 till February 24), 4,242 samples have been tested, of which 1,352 found to be positive and the number of deaths because of swine flu and other complications stood at 54," a Government bulletin on the disease said here.
The bulletin said 146 samples were tested yesterday and 27 found positive for the H1N1 virus, it said. The bulletin issued yesterday put the number of deaths "as on date" at 51.
Sufficient stock of medicine is available at different hospitals and there are enough testing kits, it said.
Citizens are advised to take precautions like reporting to the hospital on appearance of first symptoms of the respiratory illness like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pains, it said.
