Kodha police station SHO Ajit Kumar said that the incident occurred in the morning due to heavy fog near Mosapur vilage on the NH 31.
Of the three persons who died on the spot one person has been identified as Mukti Mandal, a resident of Siliguri, whose relatives have been informed, the SHO said.
The identities of the two persons including the car driver could not be ascertained so far, he said.
The car in which they were travelling had a West Bengal registration number,
