Prakash, Stephenraj and Senthil were arrested and lodged in the jail on charges of theft and robbery.
Based on an information that they were possessing ganja in their cell, the jail officials carried out search last night, but nothing was recovered.
Protesting against the search, the three climbed a tree near their cell this morning and threatened to jump and commit suicide, police said.
Jail Superintendent Andal told them that searchs would not be conducted in their cell in future.
After three hours efforts by the officials, Prakash and Stephenraj got down and all the three were lodged in the high security cell, police said.
