During the interrogation, Gupta told the police that the trio had planned to rob the employee to overcome huge debt in business.
Their target, who is the field agent of a foreign currency exchange company was robbed while he was on his way to a money exchange office at east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area, police said.
According to the police, when the field agent reached there, a person whom he had met earlier opened the door and asked him to wait for another person to arrive for currency exchange. While he was waiting, two persons entered the room with a spray and an iron rod and asked him to handover the money bag.
When the field agent refused to do so, they have sprayed the chilly concentrated mixture and forcibly took the bag from him and fled from the spot, police said.
Based on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near Inderpuri area and all three accused were arrested. The police also recovered around Rs 2.45 lakh from their possession.
