Police said Deputy Tahsildhar of Pallipalayam Kannan conducted a vehicle check yesterday and filed a complaint with police after he found the vans carrying the workers, violating the model code.
An Election flying squad intercepted the vans and questioned the van owners, who said they were taking the AIADMK workers to an election meeting in the town in the run up to the May 16 assembly polls.
The three owners were then booked by the election officials.
