In a letter sent to the state government, he stated that due to a sensitive situation in the state and in view of a wrong implication drawn over his appointment, it is hard for him to accept the offer.
"I request the state government to cancel my appointment as vice-president of Uttarakhand Film Development Council," he said in the letter.
However, he thanked the state government for finding him worthy of the position and said he would continue to promote and assist the hill state even without any official position.
Notably, Chief Minister Harish Rawat was appointed president of Uttarakhand Film Development Council yesterday and Tigmanshu Dhulia and Hemant Pandey as vice-chairmen.
Besides this, the 15 others were also chosen as council members.
