Titlagarh boils at 47 deg C, heatwave in coastal Odisha

Severe heat wave conditions continued to prevail in most parts of the state as temperature soared to 47 degree Celsius at Titlagarh in the western region.
Mercury touched 46.2 degree Celsius in another western Odisha town Sonepur.
At least seven places recorded temperatures above 45 degree Celsius. These were Angul (45.1 degree Celsius), Jharsuguda (45.3 degree Celsius), Sundergarh (45 degree Celsius), Hirakud (45.6 degree Celsius), Talcher (45.6 degree Celsius), Bhawanipatna (45 degree Celsius) and Bolangir (45 degree Celsius).
Temperature crossed 44 degree Celsius in three places. They were Keonjhar (44 degree Celsius), Sambalpur (44.8 degree Celsius) and Denkanal (44.3 degree Celsius).
Bhubaneswar, which recorded a maximum temperature of 39.9 deg Celsius yesterday, experienced 40.3 deg Celsius today with relative humidity at 90 per cent.
The IMD in its forecast said heatwave condition would likely to prevail at most places over coastal Odisha and many places over interior parts of the state during the next 24 hours.
"The model indicate that severe heatwave condition will continue till April 23 in coastal region and in interior parts of the state." IMD director S Sahu told reporters.

havebeenreceivedfromdifferentareas, a release issued by the Special Relief Commissioner's (SRC) office said adding on inquiry,deathinonecasewas
confirmedtobeduetosun-stroke.
"In17cases,thedeathshavebeenfoundtohave occurredduetootherreasons.Theremaining48casesare under inquiry," SRC P K Mohapatra said.
A Health and Family Welfare department report said 34 patientswithheat-related complaints were treated in different hospitals since yesterday.
Mohapatra said as many as 511 water tankers have been engagedand987PVCtanksplacedtomeettherequirement ofwatersupplyinurbanareas adding 289complaintson water scarcity were received yesterday of which 226 complaints have been resolved.
