"Senior TMC leader and former state power minister Manish Gupta is Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha candidate for election later this month," party secretary-general Partha Chatterjee told reporters.
The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after actor and former TMC MP Mithun Chakraborty resigned from his post in December, last year.
The party also named former minister and TMC leader Chandrima Bhattacharya as a candidate from the Kanthi South Assembly constituency.
The seat became vacant following its sitting MLA Dibyendu Adhikari got elected as an MP in a by-election from Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency.
