Tamil Nadu government today presented the Demands for Grants to cover excess expenditure for the years 1998-99 to 2004-05, to which opposition CPI (M) raised objection.
Finance Minister O Panneerselvam presented the "Demands for Grants to Cover Expenditure" for the years 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 in the state Assembly.
CPI (M) Floor Leader A Sounderrajan wondered why the demands were being moved after such a 'long delay' but Speaker P Dhanapal said it was being done following Public Accounts Committee recommendations and "done in accordance" with rules.
Earlier, Panneerselvam presented the government's first supplementary estimates for 2015-16 for a sum of Rs 1,012.30 crore.
