According to Elangovan, the Congress chief was appraised of the prevailing political situation in the state where the ruling AIADMK won the Srirangam bypoll recently while BJP suffered a humiliating defeat.
"I briefed her about the political situation in Tamil Nadu and the ongoing membership drive in the state," Elangovan said.
The meeting came in the backdrop of war of words between him and former Union Minister P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram.
Asked whether he raised the controversial tweets of Karti Chidambaram with Gandhi, the TNCC chief said such issues were not discussed.
After AAP's spectacular win, Karti, in a veiled reference to Elangovan had tweeted that a "credible leader was needed and many lessons for us to learn in Tamil Nadu Congress."
Reacting, Elangovan had said that rather than looking for a leader like Kejriwal in Congress or other parties, it will be good if Karti joins AAP if that party accepts him.
