The child climbed a chair adjacent while playing and fell into the washing machine which was switched off while her mother was engaged in work in the kitchen.
As the child got stuck, she cried, on hearing which her mother rushed but was unable to extricate her.
Two of her neighbours rushed to the house on hearing the commotion and pulled out the child using a sickle to open the tub at the end of a 28-minute operation, in a relief to the parents, police said, adding the incident happened on Tuesday.
