The 20-year-old actor might play the male lead of Todd Hewlitt, a boy who discovers a girl named Viola (Ridley) in a world, where a germ has supposedly killed all women, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Doug Liman is on board to direct the adaptation of the best-selling YA novel by Patrick Ness.
Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman ('Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind') worked on the script, while Doug Davison, who produced Tom Cruise-starrer "Mena", is producing alongside Allison Shearmur.
Holland is also looking forward to the release of his film "Spider-Man: Homecoming," which stars him in the lead role of the webslinger .
