In the budget for 2017-18, the AAP government has set aside Rs 119 crore for tourism sector.
The need for a tourism policy for Delhi has been felt for a long period, said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia while presenting the budget in Delhi Assembly today.
"We are preparing a tourism policy and master plan for promotion of tourism and tourism infrastructure," he said.
"I propose total expenditure of Rs 119 crore on tourism in 2017-18. This includes revenue budget of Rs 69 crore and capital budget of Rs 50 crore," he said.
The minister also said that they have planned to develop the riverfront of Yamuna.
"The government has planned to develop the riverfront of the Yamuna to create a place that allows people to connect with nature... It is proposed to make world-class ecological riverfront of 5 km at upstream of Wazirabad," said Sisodia.
He also said that there are plans to make the Garden of Five Senses as a hub of nightlife with a luxury food court.
