Train services in the Sealdah- Sonarpur section of the Eastern Railway was disrupted for nearly an hour on Monday after a municipal waste collection truck damaged a level crossing gate near Baghajatin station in the city, an official of the railway zone said here.
At least 12 suburban EMU trains were delayed and three other local trains were cancelled, the official said.
A municipal compactor truck hit a level crossing gate between Baghajatin and New Garia stations at 12.10 pm, he said.
The boom of the level crossing gate touched the overhead wires due to the accident, affecting train movement in the section, the official said.
A tower van was sent to the site, and after necessary repairs, normal train movement resumed at 1.08 pm, he added.
