Train services between Jamtara and Howrah were disrupted today after tribals staged a dharna on the railway lines at Bodma Halt in Jharkhand's Jamtara district, police said.
Over 5000 Melar tribals brandished traditional weapons at the halt between Jamtara and Chittaranjan railway stations since 5 AM demanding that they be included in the primitive tribals list, they said.
The Jan Shatabdi, Howrah-Gorakhpur and several other trains were stranded at various points as a result of the demonstration, railway sources said.
Senior police officials were at the spot to convince the tribals to remove the blockade.
