Unwanted chain pulling was found to be the major cause of trains running late in the East Central Railway (ECR) zone last month.
Altogether 368 people were booked for illegal pulling of chains and Rs 2.73 lakh realised from them as penalty, an ECR release said here today.
The number of people travelling without valid tickets was maximum among violators at 13,823 during the period, it said.
A total of 259 people were caught smoking in railway premises while 765 men were booked for travelling in coaches reserved for women.
