Two temple cars made by Philanthrophist Pachaiappa Mudaliar 375 years ago, were badly in need of wear and tear over the years, secretary of the Trust, Rajagopal and President Jayachandran told reporters here.
Steps were taken to renovate the cars of Sri Natarajar and Goddess Sivakamasundari by the trust officials in 2013. A large team of carpenters and artisans from Tiruvarur and Kancheepuram took up the renovation works.
The car of Goddess Sivakamasundarai, renovated at a cost of Rs 55 lakh, was used during the 'Ani Tiurmanjana' festival early this year, the trust officials said.
