Three labourers in the truck were injured in the accident, police said.
Bharuch district Collector Sandip Sagale said the EVMs and VVPAT units were being transported from Jambusar to a warehouse in Bharuch town.
These units hadn't been used during the recently-concluded Assembly elections, as they were in reserve (meant to be used if any other EVM malfunctioned) for Jambusar constituency of Bharuch where polling was held on December 9, he said.
Upon learning about the accident, which took place near Derol village in Bharuch district, local police rushed to the spot and secured the EVM units which lay scattered on the road.
These EVMs were to be sent to other states where elections are due, collector Sagale said.
"We will assess the damage to EVMs and send a report to the Election Commission," he added.
