Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has emphasized on the importance of channelizing resources towards boosting activities in agriculture and allied sectors.
Addressing the second phase of the State Development Council (SDC) meetings which began here on Monday under his chairmanship, Tuki said soil health management should be a key component of agriculture and horticulture development as envisioned in a policy adopted by the Centre.
The cabinet has already approved implementation of the Soil Health Mission in the state, an official communique said here today.
It was decided in the meeting that the on-going Chief Minister's Agri Mechanization Programme would be continued with sufficient fund provisions besides linking agriculture sector with the CM's Employment Generation Programme through skill development of progressive and potential farmers.
Under Horticulture self employment schemes would be given priority.
Besides, oil palm cultivation would be taken up in a large scale this year. Funds have been approved for provision of bore wells in less rainfall areas in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.
The second phase of the SDC meeting would outline the future roadmap of developmental plans and proposals for 25 departments out of which 11 were covered yesterday.
