Gomathi and Kousalya of 'Pembila Orumai,' an outfit of women plantation workers, were arrested and removed from the protest site after their health condition deteriorated, police said.
Later, they were admitted to a hospital here.
Tense moments prevailed in the area for a while when a group of people resisted attempts by the police to remove the duo, they said.
However, other women activists are continuing their protest.
Opposition Congress-led UDF, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have also lent support to the stir.
Mani, representing Udumbanchola in Idukki district made the alleged remarks, while talking about the eviction drive from encroached lands in Munnar.
Though Mani had expressed regret over his remark, the activists were demanding his resignation and a public apology.
