According to police, the accused -- identified as Lokesh and Shameem Ahmad, both residents of Amroha district in UP -- and used to replace the stolen laptop with similar shaped marble.
"The most interesting modus operandi which was revealed by the accused was that they used to replace the stolen laptop by similar shaped marble to escape immediate attention," Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi district) Jatin Narwal said.
The accused had stolen a laptop when complainant Sarit Jain was travelling in a Rajasthan roadways bus on September 8. The accused were apprehended and detained in a bus itself, they said, adding that during the search, Jain's laptop was recovered from Shameem's bag alongwith three marble stones resembling the shape of a laptop.
