As part of the continuous drive against the menace of the drugs and illicit liquor, the district police laid a surprise naka at Rajpura area of the district and intercepted a truck today, a police officer said.
During the checking of the truck 50 pouches of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of the driver, he said.
The contraband along with the truck was seized and the driver arrested, the police officer added.
In another incident, a police party based on some specific information succeeded in apprehending one person from Ghagwal area of the district and recovered 40 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession today.
A case under Excise Act stands was registered against him at police station Ghagwal and investigations initiated, the officer said.
