"While one breeding centre would be in north India, the other would be in south India. It has been necessitated in order to upgrade and protect Shahiwal, Tharparkar, Girka and Kankrech breed of cows," Dr KML Pathak, Deputy Director (Animal Husbandry) ICAR told reporters here today.
For maintaining the milk yield of the cattle, research is being done to improve nourishment given to them, he said.
"New variety of green fodder in Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jhansi institutes is being found. Jhansi has developed a new variety of spineless cactus. It requires less water. While developing new variety climatic condition is also taken care of," he said.
