"He (Anubrata) went out of constituency yesterday even after being told by the District Election officer of Birbhum not to do so. One FIR is being lodged against him in this connection," West Bengal's Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta said.
A second FIR is also being lodged against him for casting his vote wearing party symbol on his kurta.
"Two FIRs are being lodged by the returning officer in Bolpur. They are under Section 188 of the IPC (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and relevant election related laws," Gupta said.
Mondal has been kept under 24x7 surveillance of central police force jawans and a local magistrate by the commission after a censure and multiple show-cause notices failed to dissuade him from violating the model code of conduct.
When asked about Mondal's comments that no one can keep a surveillance on him, Gupta said they will take cognizance of it once they get the video.
Mondal was, however, reluctant to admit that he was guilty.
"I didn't realise it. But the presiding officer could have stopped me from going like this," Mondal told a local TV channel adding that all his kurtas have the party symbol attached to them.
"If the opposition parties couldn't arrange for polling agents, am I responsible for it?" he asked while claiming that polling has been "peaceful".
According to a notice issued to him by the poll panel, Mondal had reportedly said, "No agents of opposition parties will be seen in the polling stations on the day of poll. All opposition parties will be compelled to withdraw their agents from the booths. All will be depressed in the end of the day and will say Anubrata compelled to withdraw the agents from the booth. But no one could say how it is done".
