Mazid Ali (37) and Mohd Ayub (20) were apprehended from Daryaganj recently on a tip-off that some people are involved in manufacturing and selling of counterfeit products of a reputed computer hardware company.
"The gang was carrying out its operation on a large scale and supplying duplicate products throughout India through its channels specially in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Counterfeit products worth more than Rs 20 lakh has been," Devesh Srivastava, Additional Commissioner of Police (Central), said.
The gang had allegedly set up a small manufacturing unit at their premises. The duo used to collect used cartridges and toners from various offices, then refill it and pack them using false labels and stickers and supply it in the market.
"They were carrying out this illegal business for last six months," Srivastava said.
