Two men were arrested today for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs 80 lakh at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.
A passenger was intercepted by the customs officials after his arrival from Riyadh. "This passenger had gone to washroom to handover 24 gold bars weighing 2.7 kgs to an employee working with a private firm engaged at the airport for work," a customs official said.
Both the accused -- the passenger and the employee of the private company -- were arrested, he said.
