Acting on a tip-off that the militants are present in the district, police swung into action and arrested the two cadres from two separate locations, Superintendent of Police G D Kharwanlang told PTI.
Both the militants were sent by their higher ups to try and create a scene to show that the outfit is still active in the state, the SP said.
They were directed to open fire or throw grenades on the road during the night road blockade hours called by the outfit, he said.
A country-made pistol, several ammunition, firecrackers and ball bearings meant to be used as pellets for their shotgun and a demand note were seized from the possession of both the militants, he said.
The duo have been produced in a local court in the district today where they were remanded to 10 days police custody.
