Two IMA cadets die after participating in a training session

Two cadets of the prestigious Indian Military Academy here died after being taken ill while participating in a 10 km-long run during training on the outskirts of the city three days ago.
Dipak Sharma (22) and Nabin Kumar Chhetri (23) were among seven cadets who suffered from exhaustion and dehydration and were hospitalised after the exercise 'Pahla Kadam' on Friday, a training session organised for first term cadets of the academy, the Army said.
Sharma, who died on Friday, hailed from Bathinda in Punjab. Chhetri succumbed at a hospital yesterday. He was from Darjeeling in West Bengal.
"A total of seven cadets fell unwell due to dehydration and all of them were administered first aid at the exercise location," the Army said in a statement
It said Sharma's condition was critical and he was rushed to nearby Lehman hospital at Vikasnagar where he succumbed to exhaustion and dehydration at 1:30 pm Friday.
Chhetri, along with other cadets, was shifted to the military hospital in Dehradun.
Sources said that from there he was shifted to Mahanth Indresh hospital where he died yesterday.
"The other gentleman cadets have been treated at the military hospital and they are stable," the Army said.
It said, "Wreaths were laid for both the departed cadets in separate ceremonies which were attended by all officers, junior commissioned officers and gentlemen cadets of the IMA.
