At least two persons were injured when security forces fired pellets to disperse rival sects, who have been clashing since Friday, in central Kashmir's Budgam district, official sources said.
Sajad Ahmad Lone and Mohammad Akbar were admitted to Bone and Joint Hospital at Barzulla as they injured in pellet firing by security forces at Nasrallahpora area of Budgam district, the sources said.
The violence broke out in Sabdan, Galwanpora and Reshipora villages of Budgam on Friday night following dispute between two sects over construction of a village road, the sources said.
The two sects clashed with each other over the construction of a road with both sects wanting it to pass through their area.
The clashes, which continued intermittently throughout the day yesterday, intensified this morning after a house was set afire in Nasrallahpora, the sources said.
Two cars, a motorcycle and a cowshed have also been set ablaze during the clashes since Friday night, they said.
Senior separatist leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have appealed the people to maintain amity and brotherhood.
The separatists have blamed the intelligence agencies of fanning the sectarian violence to divert attention from the Ramban firing incident that left four persons dead.
The government and the police department has remained silent on the matter so far.
Police spokesman issued a statement urging people not to pay heed to posts on social networking site but remained silent on the subject matter of these posts.
"Some people are trying to vitiate the atmosphere by spreading rumours on Facebook. People are requested not to give any heed to such posts," the spokesman said.
