A woman was among two persons who were injured when a clash broke out between two communities over a passage adjoining a graveyard in Mavimira village here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday when members of one community tried to close Chak road which is adjacent to a graveyard by digging a hole in the ground, SSP Deepak Kumar said today.
On receiving information regarding the same, the members of another community came out in protest of the digging for whom the road serves as a passage to their agricultural lands.
The members of the former community claimed there is no such passage, whereas the protestors from the latter said the passage has been existing since decades.
The protest soon turned violent in which stone pelting and gunfighting were also witnessed, Kumar said, adding the police has arrested seven persons in the case.
The situation is under control, he said, adding additional police and PAC has been deployed in the area.
