Two persons were killed and as many seriously injured when an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by a van near Rupsa in Balasore district, police said today.
The mishap took place on National Highway No. 60 late last night when the victims were returning from a marriage function, they said.
The injured were first taken to the Balasore district headquarters hospital and then shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack where their condition was stated to be serious.
The deceased have been identified as Baja Mohan Senapati and Kamala Kanta of Taharpur village under Rupsa police station area.
