Two old-age homes built against target of 10: Outcome budget

The Delhi government could begin the construction of only two old-age homes against the target of 10 till December 2017, according to the first Outcome Budget 2017-18 tabled today.

The Outcome Budget tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia mentioned that 80 per cent of the 86 critical indicators under the Social Welfare Department were "on track".

"The department could start the construction work only in two old-age homes against the target of 10 homes," it said.

The government included 26 programmes or schemes run under the Social Welfare Department comprising 227 indicators out of which it identified 86 critical indicators.

The construction work of five halfway/longstay homes was completed out of which three were operationalised under the department.

It stated that the department was running six homes for mentally challenged people with a capacity of 810 people and 1,169 inmates were living in these homes.

The report said financial assistance was given to 75,603 people with special needs in 2017-18 against about 70,000 in 2016-17. One-time financial assistance was given to 2,781 families of the deceased bread-winners against 7,000 families in 2016-17.

Under the Department of Women and Child Development, 16 programmes/schemes were included in the outcome budget 2017-18 consisting of 164 output/ outcome indicators of which 111 were identified as critical indicators.

Seventy-nine per cent of the critical indicators were "on track", the report stated.

Under the status of the major critical indicators, financial assistance was given to two lakh women in distress on monthly basis till December 2017, against 1.77 lakh women in 2016-17.

Further, 24,000 new beneficiaries were added this year while 1,154 beneficiaries were deleted due to various reasons.

About 12 lakh children and pregnant/nursing mothers are availing services of nutrition, vaccination, health services and pre-school activities at 10897 anganwadi centre under ICDS.

As on December 2017, 62 per cent anganwadi centres had adult weighing scales against the target of 100 per cent. 1,13,874 adolescent girls had availed services of Supplementary Nutrition and Awareness on Health and Hygiene under SABALA and Kishori Shakti Yojana, against the annual target of 1,23,112.

Under Ladli scheme, the department has received 68,327 application for fresh enrolment (birth and school cases) till December 2017 against the annual target of 75,000.
