Two persons were run over and killed by an express train near Jaleswar railway station in Odisha's Balasore district, police said on Monday.
Two persons of West Midnapore district of West Bengal were trying to reach the Jaleswar railway station to catch a train to return home on Sunday when the mishap took place, they said.
The Howrah-Ernakulam (22877) express ran over them when they were walking on the rail track to reach the station. The train hit them from behind near Barmunha railway overbridge, the police said.
The deceased have been identified as Bablu Giri (32) and Nitai Manna (50) of Deuli village under Belda Police Station in West Midnapore district, police added.
