Two girl students allegedly committed suicide by hanging in separate incidents in the city, the police said today.
The deceased are identified as Mounika (20), a final-year BTech student of a private college, and a 17-year-old intermediate second year student.
According to police, Mounika hanged herself in the bathroom of her house last afternoon in Suraram Colony following an "argument" with her mother.
A social media post attributed to Mounika reads: "Nowadays...I am afraid to be happy...I don't know y people don't want to look at me when I am happy in my life. Every moment in my life is going so worst...I am just passing out through them...by learning lessons from everything happening my life".
A case was registered under section 174 of CrPC in this regard, Dundigal police station inspector Shankaraiah said.
In another incident, the 17-year-old girl hanged herself from a ceiling fan with stole in her hostel room in Madhapur area last night.
She was undergoing coaching for NEET for medicine at a private educational institute, a police official said, adding that the girl was taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her as brought dead.
A family member of the deceased said they didn't know why she took the extreme step.
A case was registered in this regard and further probe is on.
