The prosecution case was that Kalidas and Kaliyappan had accosted the wife of Murugan (30) in a bus while he had gone to purchase some things in the bus stand on the night of February 15 2013 and asked her to come with them.
The woman narrated what had happened to her husband when he came back, following which he slapped one of the youths.
The duo then dragged Murugan out of the bus and stabbed him many times in full public view and fled.
The duo later surrendred before a Mahila court and a court in Tirupur.
Special Court judge Christopher, who delivered the judgement, sentenced them to life imprisonment.
He also slapped a penalty of Rs 5,000 each on them.
