UGC notifies two new degrees in field of sports science

The University Grants Commission (UGC) today notified two new degrees in field of sports science and has instructed the varsities offering courses in physical education to amend them accordingly.
The two new degrees are -Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports (BPES) and Master of Physical Education and Sports (MPES).
"The universities which are offering Bachelor and Master courses in Physical Education shall accordingly restructure these programmes and award the degrees as BPES and MPES," an official notification said.
Bringing amendments in the UGC notification in 2014 about specification of degrees, the commission had in July last year amended five degrees.

They were-Bachelor in Education (BEd), Master in Education (MEd), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), Master of Physical Education (MPEd) and Master of Vocation (MVoc).
The notification of the sports science degrees is the second amendment in the 2014 gazette notification.
